Once again President Karzai has showed interest to engage in dialog with the Taliban to end the six years of bloodshed.

He made this offer to Taliban on Monday and requested Pakistan to help establish contact the Taliban leadership. It is heartening that the Taliban have positively responded to this offer. The spokesman said that they were ready to talk in the ‘national interest’.

President Karzai has been under pressure to start negotiation with the Taliban since may, after Afghan senate passed resolution calling for ceasefire. They were of the opinion that fighting had failed to bring any results.

I hope this dialog could lead to peace, because Afghan people have been suffering for 27 years. They need peace and tranquility .
