Opium production in Afghanistan increased almost 50 percent. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime disclosed this in their report, which was released today in Vienna.
UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa said that the insurgency-plagued southern province of Helmand is becoming the center of supply.
