Could the Pakistan Army elite go against Musharraf?

Political pundits are giving importance to Negroponte’s meeting with Vice Chief of the Pakistan Army. They are of the opinion that the US is trying to reach pro-western army officers to oust Musharraf.

They think that there is unrest in the Pakistan Army about the way Musharraf is handling the affairs of the country. They think that the threat of suspension of military aid will compel them to go against Musharraf.

They are sadly mistaken if they think that Pakistan army elite will go against him. He is paying them handsomely so they will not go against him. Look at the organization like NADRA and see the posts given to retired army officials. They know if civilian government of Ms. Bhutto or Nawaz come to power that will have to abandon these perks. They will do everything to bring PML-Q into power so they can enjoy their perks.

It is not only NADRA which is crowded by army officers whether retired or serving. Name the government department and you will find it headed by an army officer. This practice of inducting military in the civil institutions reached its peak in the last tenure of Nawaz Sharif who has now become the champion of the cause of civil society in Pakistan.

pervez musharraf is a great son of the soil.he is very popular amongst the military personel.he is enjoying popularity in 80% of the masses of pakistan.only reason such people are not very vocal about it because this class consists of mature and balanced people who actually love pakistan and know that politicians have plundered the wealth of pakistan and they know pakistan was never prosprous like in his regieme.actually musharraf has not tried to give strength to such people to openly support him or curb the media to polute the minds of an uneducated nation.he is a hero of majority of pakistanis and will remain as such always.i wish a handful of polititions and lawyers and few media persons playing in the hands of the enemies of pakistan will never succeed in destroying the immage of a great hero and a great leader.i wish .....
